Taipan win provides double for Kenzadargent after Brad The Brief Group 3 strike
The son of Frankel was a 500,000gns purchase from Arqana's August Sale
Kenzadargent made it two winners from as many offspring to have hit the track when the Jessica Harrington-trained Frankel colt Taipan struck in the mile maiden at Naas on Sunday.
The stakes-winning daughter of Kendargent, who was also placed four times in Group company, was already having a productive weekend with the Group 3 success of Brad The Brief at Chantilly on Saturday.
By Cheveley Park's Dutch Art, the three-year-old gelding had struck in Listed company at Newmarket earlier in the season, and was landing his first Pattern success when seeing off Coeur De Pierre by a length and three-quarters.
Brad The Brief has been solely campaigned over six furlongs during his ten-race career, while his Frankel half-brother looks set for races over a mile and further given his Irish 2,000 Guineas and Derby entries for next year.
Taipan, who was bred by Andrew Black's Chasemore Farm and made €500,000 last year when selling to Amanda Skiffington at Arqana, looks the sort to relish middle distances next term, with rider Shane Foley commenting: "He's a gorgeous laid-back horse and we gave him all the time in the world. I wasn't sure if today was his day, he never travelled at any stage but that's the way he is at home. He'll be a lovely staying horse for next year."
Kenzadargent herself was an €8,000 purchase from the Osarus September Yearling in 2012, when consigned by Haras de Colleville, before being snapped up for €140,000 at Arqana's Horses in Training Sale by Oceanic Bloodstock the following year in 2013.
The now nine-year-old realised 210,000gns when selling to Blandford Bloodstock at the Tattersalls December Mare Sale in 2015, having been consigned by Martin Schwartz from European Sales Management. Chasemore has a yearling Siyouni colt by the mare, who subsequently visited Le Havre.
