Mohaather, who proved himself a miler of the highest calibre when landing a vintage running of the Group 1 Sussex Stakes, is to begin his stallion career on Shadwell's Nunnery Stud roster next year.

Richard Lancaster, Shadwell stud director, said: "The entire team at Shadwell are delighted to be standing Mohaather at the Nunnery.

"He put up arguably the best performance of any miler this year when defeating a top-class field in the Sussex Stakes, backing up what was an ultra-impressive performance in the Summer Mile at Ascot. His explosive turn of foot will live long in the memory."

He added: "It's important to remember Mohaather was also a Group winner at two and three and he has the physical prowess to match his racecourse exploits. He is particularly attractive – a beautiful dark bay – and is an extraordinarily well-balanced individual with a superb walk.

"You can see how he generated that speed; he has a great hindquarter and second thigh."

The son of Showcasing won five times during an eight-race career, a record that includes Group-level victories at two, three and four. Mohaather was trained by Marcus Tregoning throughout his racing days and twice carried the famous Hamdan Al Maktoum silks to victory as a juvenile, including in the Group 3 Horris Hill Stakes. He returned at three with a ready success in the Greenham Stakes.

He progressed throughout his three seasons in training, with his finest moments coming at four. He may well have made his Group 1 breakthrough in the Queen Anne Stakes but for heavy traffic problems, but made amends in no uncertain terms when he stormed three and three-quarter lengths clear of a classy field in the Group 2 Summer Mile Stakes on his next outing.

The Sussex Stakes was his biggest challenge, with the Anglo-Irish 2,000 Guineas winners Kameko and Siskin and the three-time Group 1 scorer Circus Maximus in opposition, but it was a test he passed with flying colours.

As was so often the case, he travelled strongly in midfield but was left with a huge task when he was shuffled back to last in the seven-runner field with just two furlongs to run. Once brought to the outside by Jim Crowley, Mohaather began to make sustained headway before his breathtaking turn of foot saw him quicken past a trio of Group 1 winners in a matter of strides.

The winning distance of three-quarters of a length unquestionably underplays his superiority. However, those who witnessed his finishing effort at Goodwood can have been left in no doubt that this is a colt of immense talent.

He was bred by Gaie Johnson Houghton and was one of 93 stakes performers by Whitsbury Manor Stud's Showcasing. The son of Oasis Dream, who stood the 2020 season at a fee of £55,000, has also fielded the top-level winners Advertise and Quiet Reflection.

Mohaather is out of Roodeye, a useful daughter of Inchinor who won two races and also finished third in the Listed Dick Poole Fillies' Stakes at two. Roodeye has produced eight winners at paddocks, with Mohaather's siblings including his sister Prize Exhibit, whose record is headed by a pair of US Grade 2s, and the stakes-placed Harbour Master.

The mare also produced Roodle, a dual winning daughter of Xaar who is best known as the dam of Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes hero Accidental Agent. Mohaather joined the Shadwell ranks at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Sale at a cost of 110,000gns.

He will stand alongside Eqtidaar, Muhaarar, Mukhadram and Tasleet on the Nunnery Stud roster.

Mohaather has played a leading role in a sensational season for Sheikh Hamdan, who has also landed major prizes with the likes of Alkumait, Battaash, Minzaal, Molatham and Nazeef.
