Sibling to Classic winners Windstoss and Weltstar headlines BBAG catalogue
The progeny of Camelot, Lope De Vega and Sea The Stars also on offer
Germany's leading thoroughbred auction house BBAG has released the catalogue for its annual yearling sale, due to take place on August 31 in Baden-Baden.
Headlining the 279-lot catalogue is Worrick (Lot 202), a Kamsin half-brother to German Derby-winning siblings to Windstoss and Weltstar, who is due to be offered by breeder Gestut Rottgen.
Somewhat remarkably, neither Windstoss nor Weltstar proved popular when they came under the hammer at the BBAG yearling sale, with both returning home to race for Rottgen after bidding went as far as €16,000 for Windstoss and €40,000 for Weltstar.
But with a double dose of Classic-winning form now under the first dam, it seems unlikely that buyers will pass up the opportunity to claim Worrick for their own.
Weltstar is by leading German stallion Soldier Hollow, and the son of In The Wings, who stands at Gestut Auenquelle, is due to be represented by as many as 25 lots at the auction. One of his sons topped the 2017 edition of this sale when selling to Horst Pudwill for €500,000.
The catalogue also contains stock by proven sires such as Adlerflug, Camelot, Lope De Vega, New Approach, Samum and Sea The Stars, as well as yearlings by up-and-comers Australia, Gleneagles, Golden Horn, and Sea The Moon.
The country's leading breeders and nurseries will also send drafts to Baden-Baden including Gestut Auenquelle, Gestut Etzean, Gestut Fahrhof and Stauffenberg Bloodstock.
