Lael Stables unveils its latest racing member from a remarkable production line when Passing Nod makes his debut at Windsor on Monday.

The juvenile’s dam is Superstar Leo, the Norfolk and Flying Childers Stakes winner who has turned into an influential broodmare for American-based Roy and Gretchen Jackson.

Superstar Leo, who was bred by Lester Piggott and his friend Tony Hirschfeld and bought by Piggott’s son-in-law William Haggas and wife Maureen for just 3,400gns, has produced the likes of Listed winner Sentaril and the classy sprinter Enticing.

The latter has also joined the broodmare band and delivered One Master, who struck for Haggas in the Lael silks in last year’s Prix de la Foret.

Seven more of Superstar Leo’s offspring have won and her 13th foal represents a suffusion of speed through his sire Zoffany, who is having a fine season with the likes of his German Guineas winner Main Edition.

Superstar Leo, who is now 21 and has no three-year-old as she was not covered the season earlier, is still an active broodmare and has a Frankel yearling colt and a Havana Gold foal further down the line.

With James Doyle booked, Passing Nod has been given a realistic opening assignment in the Download The Marathonbet App EBF Novice Stakes, with Richard Hannon’s placed Frankel filly Shammah the best with form in the book.
