Nicest the second juvenile winner out of €6m mare Chicquita
Her first offspring Secret Thoughts earned black type at two
Nicest - arguably the best bred youngster entrusted to Donnacha O'Brien by the Coolmore partners - recorded an impressive debut win in the mile Decorated Knight Irish EBF Fillies Maiden at Leopardstown on Thursday.
The American Pharoah filly had the measure of a host of blue-blooded juveniles and got up near the line to deny Siskin's half-sister Talacre, a Flintshire filly who also filled the runner-up spot on her only other start.
Nicest is the second foal out of the Montjeu mare Chicquita, the Irish Oaks heroine who set a European auction record when sold for €6 million as part of the Paulyn dispersal at the Goffs November Sale in 2013.
O'Brien is familiar with the family have ridden the mare's first runner, the War Front filly Secret Thoughts, to win a Naas maiden before the pair finished third in the Group 3 Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown.
The Coolmore-bred Nicest was ridden by five-pound claimer Gavin Ryan and holds entries for the Debutante and Moyglare Stud Stakes later this year.
Second-season sire American Pharoah landed the US Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup Classic in a glittering career and has eight stakes scorers to date, headed up by the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf scorer Four Wheel Drive.
Chicquita is a closely related half-sister to the Ribblesdale Stakes scorer Magic Wand and the Group 3-placed Je Ne Regretterien, both by Galileo.
The trio are out of the Listed-winning Dansili mare Prudenzia, whose progeny have sold for a combined €8.195m at the Arqana August Yearling Sale, including a Dubawi filly that topped proceedings at last year's auction when hammered down to Godolphin for €1.625m.
