Lingfield may not have limelight but it does have a novice stakes worth its salt
Mile event on Saturday contains plenty of newcomers to note
Lingfield’s Saturday meeting won’t be centre stage like last weekend, when jumping was badly hit by the weather, but the three-year-old mile novice stakes definitely looks one to keep an eye on with several interesting newcomers declared alongside Invincible Swagger and Silent Film, who won and were second respectively on their Kempton debuts.
Simon Dow would not be noted for three-year-old debut winners but his newcomer Jeremiah Johnson looks one to keep tabs on, being out of an unraced half-sister to Group 2 and Wokingham Handicap winner Nice One Clare.
The son of Camacho is the first foal out of Stowaway dam Lady Lassie, and is the mount of Callum Shepherd, a regular rider for the Dow yard.
Light Beam is a stablemate of Silent Film, with the son of Dubawi, out of Galileo mare Dalkova, making his debut though already a gelding. A relation of Daliapour and Darshaan, he is the mount of Martin Harley, with Adam Kirby aboard Charlie Applebly’s other runner.
Secret Glow, meanwhile, is a son of Sepoy out of Listed winner Moon Sister, and a half-brother to winners to Dragon Sun ad Elara, He will wear the silks of Abdulla Belhabb and runs for Simon and Ed Crisford.
Charger went through the Tattersalls ring as a foal and yearling, when he was bought at October Book 2 for 62,000gns by Sam Sangster. The son of Dragon Pulse is another to have already been gelded but nonetheless looks one to note for Manton Thoroughbreds on his debut for the Brian Meehan yard.
Jeff Smith homebred Hollywood Lady is one of a couple of fillies in the race and receives 3lb from the ten colts and geldings.
The daughter of Sea The Stars is out of Galileo mare Opera Gal, who struck at up to Listed level, and is a half-brother to winner Galactic Prince.
Invincible Spirit’s son Invincible Swagger carries a penalty for his previous success at Kempton but still looks the one to beat.
