Issam Fares dispersal to reach its conclusion at February Mixed Sale
Auction will also feature dispersal of the late Marquise de Moratalla
The dispersal of Lebanese owner-breeder Issam Fares will conclude at this year's Arqana February Mixed Sale, which commences in Deauville at 10am local time on February 12-13.
The auction will also feature the first stage of a complete dispersal from the estate of the late Marquise de Moratalla, the leading owner-breeder whose colours were carried by the likes of The Fellow, First Gold and Poule d'Essai des Poulains scorer Tin Horse.
The first day will see the conclusion of the dispersal of prominent Lebanese owner Issam Fares' breeding and racing interests. This process began last month when the breeder of Curlin, Miss Alleged, Da Hoss, Baino Hope and Reve D'Oscar sold a selection of mares at the December Sale.
A total of 43 lots will be offered from Haras de Manneville, including 16 broodmares, one filly, seven horses in training, five two-year-olds, and 14 yearlings, such as:
• Noormandy (lot 75), a son of Le Havre out of Listed winner Wedge Trust, a winner at two from only two runs
• Out Of Town (76), a four-year-old daughter of Kentucky Dynamite who placed three times in Listed company
• Ana Zghorta (91), a granddaughter of Miss Alleged and the dam of Group winner Zghorta Dance, in foal to Intello
• Symba's Dream (110), a stakes-placed half-sister to Heritage Of Gold and already the dam of three black-type performers including Listed winner La Gommeuse, in foal to Charm Spirit
Also included is a Camelot yearling (95) out of Group 2 winner Baino Hope and a Siyouni yearling (98) out of Listed scorer Baino Rock.
The Channel Consignment will consign 12 fillies and mares, some of which are in training, from the late Marquise de Moratalla's estate - the first stage of a complete dispersal, which will continue later this year at Arqana.
The Marquise de Moratalla was a leading owner-breeder on the Flat and over jumps and saw her famous silks carried by homebreds such as Nombre Premier, Tin Horse and Charge D'Affaires, as well as jumps talents such as The Fellow and First Gold.
The dispersal is highlighted by:
• Graciously (lot 119), a Shamardal half-sister to Group 1 winner Giofra in foal to Invincible Spirit
• Red Whisper (29), an unbeaten daughter of Redoute's Choice and Listed scorer Becomes You
• Hidden Cove (115) and Timepecker (117), both half-sisters to Group winner Court Cannibal, in foal to Shalaa and Almanzor respectively
• Wilside (122), winner of the Group 3 Prix Chloe and already the dam of Listed scorer Sarigan, sold in foal to Wootton Bassett
The Channel Consignment will also offer several horses from Al Shahania Stud:
• Pacific Pride (166), a daughter of Storm Cat and Race For The Stars carrying to Teofilo
• Middlemist Red (194), a half-sister to Group 1 winner Eden's Moon pregnant to Make Believe.
The sale comprises 234 broodmares, 45 fillies ready to be covered, 73 horses in training, 103 yearlings, 32 two-year-olds, a trio of three-year olds and two stallion prospects.
