Denford Stud's Regent, a Frankel half-sister to the operation's dual Group 1 winner and Ribblesdale Stakes heroine Coronet, struck at the second time of asking in the opening mile novice at Chelmsford on Thursday.

The John Gosden-trained Regent, who showed promise on her first start at Kempton last month despite clear signs of greenness, is out of Prince Faisal's wonderful producer Approach, a stakes-winning and Grade 2-placed daughter of Darshaan and Last Second.

Approach, herself a half-sister to French Guineas and Shadwell Turf hero Aussie Rules, and a full-sibling to Prix Marcel Boussac fourth and the Listed-placed Intrigued, has produced three black-type horses to date.

Midas Touch, a son of Galileo and trained by Aidan O'Brien, won the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial Stakes and was runner-up in the Irish Derby and St Leger. He was also Group 1-placed in Australia for Robert Hickmott.

Coronet, who visited Frankel last year for her maiden cover and returns to the dual world champion this season, is another top-class performer out of Approach.

Another trained by Gosden, the daughter of Dubawi won the Zetland Stakes at two and went on to add the Ribblesdale at three.

Numerous top-level placings - including second behind the brilliant Enable and Sea Of Class in two Yorkshire Oaks plus a narrow runner-up spot to subsequent Arc hero Waldgeist - were rewarded by wins in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and Prix Jean Romanet in 2019.

Approach has also produced the Group 3-placed and three-length maiden winner Streetcar To Stars, a son of Sea The Stars, plus the winning Fly The Flag - who has joined Denford's broodmare band and will visit Oasis Dream - Murgan and Photographer.
