First foal by champion performer Authentic born in Kentucky
Spendthrift Farm’s Authentic, winner of the Kentucky Derby and Breeders’ Cup Classic in 2020, sired his first reported foal on Sunday when a colt was born at Taylor Made Farm in Nicholasville in Kentucky.
“This is a really nice foal out of a maiden mare. Correct, nice body, good angles, athletic looking and healthy. We are very happy,” said Taylor Made’s Frank Taylor.
Bred by Marie Jones, the black or grey colt is the first foal out of the Old Fashioned mare Streak Of Luck, a stakes winner and multiple graded-placed earner of $352,109.
Streak Of Luck was purchased for $620,000 at the Keeneland November sale last fall while carrying the colt.
Into Mischief’s son Authentic was the 2020 champion across the board in America after his further wins in the Haskell Invitational, San Felipe and Sham Stakes. He covered 229 mares in his first book and is set to stand his second season at stud in 2022 for a fee of $70,000.
