Deadly earthquake causes landslides close to where Deep Impact stands
Aftershocks are expected in the coming days
An earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale has hit Hokkaido island in Japan, close to Shadai Stallion Station where the world's most expensive advertised stallion Deep Impact stands.
Shadai Farm posted on Facebook on Thursday stating that all staff and horses are safe and that there is no major damage to its property, but that the farm has its power and electricity cut off.
The BBC has reported that at least eight people have been killed and about 40 are missing, and that the earthquake has cut power to three million homes.
The earthquake arrived in the aftermath of Typhoon Jebi - also referred to in the Facebook post - which claimed the lives of ten people and caused widespread damage.
Apart from Deep Impact, Shadai Stallion Station is home to leading Japanese sires including Harbinger, Heart's Cry, King Kamehameha, Maurice, Novellist and Orfevre, while the Yoshida family's elite broodmare band and youngstock reside at Shadai Farm.
