Some 147 two-year-olds have been catalogued for next month’s Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale, including 23 siblings to Group or Listed winners.

Picks of the bunch include a Dark Angel half-brother to the Dewhurst winner Intense Focus (lot 62), a Kodiac half-brother to the Gold Cup winner Trip To Paris (107), a Night Of Thunder half-sister to globe-trotter Wigmore Hall (116) and an Invincible Spirit half-brother to Grand Prix de Paris hero Erupt (122).

There are 19 two-year-olds out of Group- or Listed-winning mares including an Oasis Dream filly out of EP Taylor Stakes winner Lahaleeb (112) and a War Front colt out of Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Quarter Moon (139), therefore a half-brother to Pretty Polly winner Diamondsandrubies.

Further international lustre has been brought with the inclusion of two lots from the first crop of US Triple Crown hero American Pharoah. Alliance Bloodstock offer the half-brother to Sirenia Stakes winner Shumoos (29), while Powerstown Stud consign the filly out of Listed winner Iplaytricks (96).

The total is below the original 172 catalogued for this event 12 months ago, but largely in line with the previous years. Sires including Dansili, Sea The Stars, Shamardal, Lope De Vega, Kitten’s Joy, More Than Ready and Medaglia D'Oro are also represented.

Willie Browne’s Mocklershill has the largest consignment with 15 juveniles catalogued, followed by nine from Thomond O’Mara’s Knockanglass Stables. Last year’s sale-topping consignor, Tanya Browne’s Mayfield Stables, is bringing seven two-year-olds to the sale.

All lots are eligible for the new £15,000 Craven Breeze-Up Bonus, which participating owners will receive should their purchase win a class two, three or four juvenile maiden or novice race, or an open two-year-old maiden in Ireland.

The breeze takes place on Newmarket’s Rowley Mile, starting at 9.30am on Monday, April 15, with the sale going ahead after the conclusion of racing on the Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said: “The Craven Breeze-Up Sale consistently produces top-class racehorses and Grade 1 Natalma Stakes winner La Pelosa was one of nine Group/Listed performers to have already come from last year’s sale along with Group winner Queen Of Bermuda.

"The £15,000 Craven Breeze-Up Bonus is an exciting new incentive for buyers and there are six lots who are already qualified for the £25,000 October Book 1 Bonus which would result in a massive £40,000 in additional prize-money for a horse winning a qualifying race.

"The quality catalogue of 147 lots has a strong representation of two-year-olds by many of the world’s most sought after sires and the sale looks certain to attract the usual international mix of buyers to Tattersalls.”
