American Devil heading to Haras du Grand Chesnaie as potential jump stallion
Former Grandcamp resident has showed promise with first two crops
American Devil is to stand at Haras du Grand Chesnaie near Menil in western France for next season.
Although under the ownership of Haras du Quetieville, he has been at Grandcamp for the last five years and has been showing potential as a dual-purpose sire.
A Group 3 winner on the Flat, he is the only son of American Post at stud in France and his father has produced some smart jumpers in recent times.
Quetieville's stud director, Olivier Foucher, told Jour de Galop: "With his first generations on the track, American Devil has been getting good results on the Flat with horses like Lady Of Devil - two Class 2 victories - Blak Devil - winner of her maiden at Clairefontaine - and Amazing Filly - winner of her maiden at Vichy.
"He is a truly versatile stallion. Moreover, we also have good feedback about his progeny in training over jumps and decided to direct the stallion towards this specialty.
"For this objective, he will go to the west of France, a region with good potential for jumping mares. He will be offered at an attractive price of €2,500 Haras du Grand Chesnaie.
"His progeny have the physique and strength, they really have the profile to do well over jumps, several recognised stud farms like Haras de Maulepaire and Ecurie Sagittaire have not hesitated to send him jumping mares."
