Historic Palace House providing a fresh start for retired superstars
Sire De Grugy: the 2014 Champion Chase winner was retrained for new career at Palace House in Newmarket
Within the grounds of Newmarket's Palace House four Derby winners were trained between 1863 and 1904. Now, the Rothschild yard, which was built alongside the King's yard in 1903, has become a centre for Retraining of Racehorses, an organisation that prepares thoroughbreds for a life after their racing career has ended. Racing Post met Sue Molloy, yard manager at Palace House, to find out more about the work they have been doing with retired racehorses such as Big Orange, Sire De Grugy and Starluck.
