We have competitive heats galore on Chelmsford's evening all-weather card and Richard Hughes, who has been one of the season's most in-form trainers and seems to be taking his second career to the next level, saddles Sandy Paradise in the 7f handicap (7.30).

He has been runner-up the last twice and is ready to collect again with Finley Marsh taking over from an apprentice.

The selection was particularly eyecatching in first-time blinkers at Wolverhampton two starts back, making up substantial late ground from off the speed in a race that wasn't strongly run, before simply getting going too late again with that aid retained in another race not run to suit at Lingfield last time. He was in front after the line and remains of significant appeal off just 1lb higher.

Horses with Sandy Paradise's hold-up style are always vulnerable in races that are not truly run, but there is enough early pace in this field to raise confidence of such a scenario being avoided, and he should go close with a decent trip.
