Young stallions beginning to make their marks as broodmare sires
Nancy Sexton pinpoints the horses making a name for themselves

By their very nature, leading broodmare sire lists are often a reflection of the old guard and this year’s European collection is no different, with only two of the top eight - Pivotal and Galileo, who sit first and second with the earners of approximately £3.4 million/€3.8m and £2.7m – still in active service.
However, several of the younger brigade are starting to make serious inroads in this department, as we have been reminded recently by several big-race results.
Street Sense, for example, came to the fore as the damsire of Eclipse Stakes winner Roaring Lion while fellow Darley stallion Bernardini featured as damsire of Belmont Derby winner Catholic Boy. Nor must we forget Lawman, already well known as the damsire of Battaash, who added another stakes winner to his resume in Awesometank.
