Tiggy Wiggy's son Year Of The Tiger roars to success at Naas

Year Of The Tiger, the first foal out of champion two-year-old Tiggy Wiggy, opened his account at the third time of asking on Saturday when he quickened clear for a four-and-a-quarter length success in the 7f maiden at Naas.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained colt, who finished midfield in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot on his second outing, was bred by Coolmore and is owned by the all-conquering operation in partnership with the Niarchos family's Flaxman Stables.

Tiggy Wiggy, meanwhile, was bred by Ballyphilip Stud under the CBS Bloodstock banner, meaning she shares her breeder with the likes of Battaash, Harry Angel and Xtension.

She is from the fifth crop of Kodiac and is out of the Kheleyf mare Kheleyf's Silver, and was bought as a yearling by Peter and Ross Doyle for £41,000 at Doncaster's Premier Yearling Sale.

She ran eight times at two, winning six races, including the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes and the Group 2 Lowther Stakes.

Those exploits helped put her sire, Kodiac, on the map, and the Tally-Ho Stud stallion has not looked back as his fee has climbed from a low of €4,000 to this year's perch of €65,000.

The son of Danehill went on to break the record for the most juvenile winners in a season, supplying 61 successful two-year-olds in 2017.

Tiggy Wiggy returned at three, when her best effort was a third-place finish behind Coolmore's Legatissimo in the 1,000 Guineas.

She headed to the Tattersalls December Sales at the conclusion of her Classic campaign, where she was added to the Coolmore broodmare band by MV Magnier at a cost of 2,100,000gns.

She has been mated exclusively with Galileo since, and also has a yearling colt by the perennial champion sire on the ground.

Year Of The Tiger becomes Galileo's third juvenile winner of the campaign, following on from impressive Curragh scorer Armory and Toronto, a half-brother to Canford Cliffs.
