Tarnawa's half-brother Tazaral makes bright impression
Fastnet Rock gelding ran away with 10-furlong maiden
Although set a very stiff task being a half-brother to one of the biggest names in the game, Tazaral began to look an exciting prospect in his own right with a wide-margin victory at Gowran Park on Monday.
The Aga Khan's home-bred gelding has an illustrious sibling stablemate at Dermot Weld's Rosewell House in Tarnawa, who completed a Group 1 hat-trick last year in the Breeders' Cup Turf and is expected to be targeted towards the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
While five-year-old Tarnawa is by Shamardal, Tazaral is by Coolmore's Fastnet Rock. He did not make his debut until this three-year-old season, finishing in mid-division at Leopardstown in April but jumping a leap forward in the second division of the Thomastown Maiden over an extended nine furlongs, quickening five lengths clear with the minimum of fuss under Colin Keane.

The pair are the first two foals out of Cape Cross mare Tarana, a dual Listed winner for John Oxx. Tarana is out of the Galres Stakes winner Tarakala, a family that the Aga Khan has kept going back to Tazaral's fifth dam Tremogia, the daughter of a Prix Saint Alary winner.
Tarana has produced only one other foal on current records, a yearling filly by Siyouni, and most recently visited Frankel.
