Snowfall's brother Newfoundland unleashed at Leopardstown

Leopardstown is the stage for the debut of some regally bred three-year-olds on Wednesday with brothers to two of last season's star fillies set to clash and the first daughter of a champion also ready to make her racecourse bow.

In the aparto Student Colts and Geldings Maiden (3.05) Aidan O'Brien unveils a beautifully-bred Derby aspirant. Newfoundland is a Deep Impact full-brother to Ballydoyle's ill-fated Snowfall, who won last year's Oaks by a record-breaking distance and followed up her Epsom procession with victories in the Irish and Yorkshire Oaks.

He is just the second foal out of Group 3 Give Thanks Stakes winner Best In The World, a Galileo full-sister to Arc heroine Found whose first foal, Battleground by War Front, won the Vintage Stakes and was placed in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf and St James's Palace Stakes.

Best In The World is also a full-sister to Divinely, who finished third behind her close relation Snowfall in the 2021 Oaks and second to her at the Curragh.

Second dam Red Evie won the Matron Stakes in 2006 and beat Ramonti to win the Lockinge Stakes the following season for Michael Bell. A daughter of Intikhab, she is out of Italian Listed winner Malafemmena by Nordico.

Red Evie is also the dam of Group 3 C L Weld Park Stakes winner Magical Dream by Galileo who finished fourth to Sky Lantern in the Moyglare Stud Stakes back in 2012 and Sky Lantern's Galileo colt takes on Newfoundland at Leopardstown.

Rock Emperor is trained by Donnacha O'Brien for the Coolmore partners and the Keswick family, who raced his Group 1 winning dam and three-parts sister.

Like Newfoundland, he holds entries in the Dante as well as the Derby and Irish Derby but unlike that rival his illustrious sibling fared best over shorter trips. A daughter of Frankel, Snow Lantern won the Falmouth Stakes last year for the Keswicks and Richard Hannon and was also placed in the Sussex and Coronation Stakes.

Their dam Sky Lantern won the 1,000 Guineas, Falmouth, Sun Chariot and Moyglare Stud Stakes for the same connections, who purchased the daughter of Red Clubs through Ed Sackville for €75,000 at the Goffs Orby Sale in 2011.

Sky Lantern is a half-sister to the Group 3 winners Shanty Star and Arctic and the Listed winner Hinton Admiral out of a daughter of the 1,000 Guineas winner Negligent.

The Ballydoyle newcomers in the Student Raceday Fillies' Maiden (4.50) boast equally aristocratic pedigrees and Classic entries.

Only, a three-year-old daughter of Deep Impact, is the first foal out of the quadruple Group 1 winner Winter. A dual Guineas winner who added the Nassau Stakes, she is by Galileo and out of the Wokingham winner Laddies Poker Two by Choisir. Winter's full-sister Lovelier won the Listed Cairn Rouge Stakes and the family traces back to Prix Morny winner Ancient Regime.

Aidan O'Brien also unveils Porto Cervo by Triple Crown winner American Pharoah out of the Group 3-placed Cherry Hinton, a Green Desert three-parts sister to Sea The Stars and half-sister to Galileo.

As a broodmare Cherry Hinton has more than done her bit to ensure that Urban Sea's legacy continues to grow; she has produced the Irish Oaks and Ribblesdale winner Bracelet, Belmont Oaks winner Athena, Rockfel winner Wading, Group 3 winner Goddess and Listed winner Sweet Molly Malone who too is by American Pharoah.

The Breeders' Cup Classic winner is also the sire of Sierra Nevada who represents Jessica Harrington and the Niarchos family. Once-raced at two, she is a half-sister to the Preakness winner War Of Will and Group 1 winner Pathfork out of Visions Of Clarity, a Sadler's Wells half-sister to Spinning World.
