A sibling to exciting young sire Sea The Moon and a Dubawi half-sister to German Derby-winning siblings Windstoss and Weltstar are among the 257 entries in the BBAG Yearling Sale catalogue, with the ever-popular auction due to take place in Baden-Baden on Friday, September 4.

Gestüt Görlsdorf consign Sea The Sky (Lot 61), a daughter of Sea The Stars and Sanwa and a sister to Sea The Moon, who not only won the German Derby but has now established himself a decidedly promising stallion at Lanwades Stud having sired the likes of Alpine Star, Quest The Moon and Wonderful Moon.

The catalogue's other major eyecatcher is the Dubawi half-sister to Windstoss and Weltstar, with the well-related filly (78) bred by Gestüt Röttgen from the farm's exciting producer Wellenspiel.

Despite the heights they went on to scale on the racecourse, the Classic-winning half-brothers were somewhat overlooked in the sales ring, with both returning home to race for Röttgen after bidding reached a mere €16,000 for Windstoss, a son of Shirocco, and just €40,000 for Weltstar, who is by Soldier Hollow.

The catalogue also contains first-crop progeny of promising young stallions such as Churchill, Highland Reel, Postponed, Recorder, Wings Of Eagles and Zarak.

BBAG Yearling Sale graduates have won some notable races in Britain this season, with Run Wild, a €160,000 buy by Meridian International, landing the Pretty Polly Fillies' Stakes and Miss Yoda, the €280,000 joint top lot in 2018, claiming the Lingfield Oaks Trial.

Records tumbled at last year's edition of the sale when Godolphin went to €820,000 for the Sea The Stars filly out of Anna Mia. The auction registered turnover of €8.175 million, up 35 per cent year-on-year, while the average rose by a massive 49 per cent to €57,165 and the median was also up by 47 per cent to €56,430.
