Roger that! Aintree sale-topper Papa Tango Charly to make rules debut
Son of No Risk At All was hammered down to Aidan Kennedy for £440,000
Papa Tango Charly, the most expensive pointer sold at public auction during the 2018-19 season, will make his rules debut less than seven months after selling for a record £440,000 at the Goffs UK Aintree Sale.
Aidan Kennedy and Jonjo O'Neill signed on the dotted line for the four-year-old son of No Risk At All, the winner of a hotly contested Liscarroll maiden in March, and he will line up in a Worcester bumper on Wednesday ().
Papa Tango Charly will carry the colours of Martin Tedham, the owner of a pharmaceutical packaging company who has defied the odds by recovering from a collapsed C5 vertebra five years ago, and will be the mount of Nick Scholfield.
No Risk At All has proved a hit among trainers, with his five-year-old son Allaho placing in two Grade 1 novice hurdles for Willie Mullins last season.
Papa Tango Charly could be given most to do by fellow winning pointer Israel Champ, a son of Milan who hosed up by 12 lengths in a Monkstown maiden a week after Papa Tango Charly opened his account at Liscarroll.
Israel Champ is trained by David Pipe and owned by John White and his sister Anne Underhill, whose colours were carried to victory by Siruh Du Lac in the Brown Advisory & Merriebelle Stable Plate at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
