Princess Zoe hitting the right notes for sire Jukebox Jury
Tom Peacock speaks to Burgage Stud's Victor Connolly about two great greys
As Princess Zoe's logic-defying journey continues into Sunday's Prix Royal-Oak, the man who brought her sire back to Ireland is hoping she can introduce new avenues of his own.
Victor Connolly, who has masterminded the careers of top jumps stallions Shantou and Bob Back from Burgage Stud in County Carlow, correctly envisaged Jukebox Jury would be coveted by the National Hunt world, being an Irish Leger-winning son of Montjeu.
His first progeny from Gestut Etzean had been showing promise over hurdles by the time Connolly recruited the grey at the end of 2017. His grey daughter Princess Zoe, however, released another dimension in giving him a first Group 1 by landing the Prix du Cadran, while daughter Memphis was beaten a neck in the Italian Oaks.
