Night Of Thunder rumbles on with another new stakes winner in Germany

Night Of Thunder, last year's standout freshman sire in Europe, is continuing to make waves in his sophomore season.

His daughter No Limit Credit became the Darley-owned hotshot's ninth stakes winner in the northern hemisphere with a brave victory in the Group 3 Karin Baronin von Ullmann Schwarzgold-Rennen at Cologne on Sunday.

No Limit Credit, trained by Andreas Suborics for owner and breeder Gestüt Karlshof, raced prominently and took up the running two furlongs from home in the mile contest for three-year-old fillies.

She stuck on well to repel the persistent challenge of Democracy, a daughter of Areion who finished a neck back in second.

“I would have preferred a little more pace in the race but she was very relaxed travelling in second – that's a great weight off my mind, and compliments to the rider, too,” said Suborics.

The jockey in question, Clement Lecoeuvre, added of the filly: “She's a fighter – she loves to fight. I knew all through the race that she always had enough in hand to win.”

No Limit Credit is the second foal out of the Barathea mare Nasrine, a winner in Belgium and Germany and a half-sister to Nazlia, the dam of Listed scorer Shutterbug and the Group 2-placed pair Anahita and Lakalas. Further back it is the family of Prix du Jockey Club victor Natroun.

Nasrine also has a two-year-old filly by Isfahan and a yearling colt by Gestüt Karlshof shuttle stallion Counterattack.

Night Of Thunder, the 2,000 Guineas and Lockinge Stakes winner by Dubawi, has taken the breeding world by storm with his first crop.

He has operated at a remarkably high winners to runners strike-rate and already has 16 offspring with a Racing Post Rating of 90 or higher in Europe – not yet including No Limit Credit, who looks set to join that club when her mark is revised.

His eight other stakes winners in the northern hemisphere are Night Colours (Group 2 Premio Dormello), Pocket Square (Group 3 Prix des Reservoirs), Under The Stars (Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes), Cacciante (Listed Premio Rumon), Dubai Love (UAE 1,000 Guineas), Keep Busy (Listed Prix Yacowlef), Molatham (Listed Flying Scotsman Stakes) and Thunderous (Listed Denford Stakes).

He also has five other black type-placed performers besides, in Lady Penelope, Magical Journey, Silent Night, Sun Power and Thunderspeed.

Unsurprisingly in light of all that, Night Of Thunder has found himself in fierce demand from breeders standing at Kildangan Stud even at an increased fee of €25,000 this spring. He was reported to be heavily oversubscribed.

Night Of Thunder has also got off to a strong start with the first southern hemisphere-bred two-year-old crop resulting from his shuttle trips to Darley in Australia.

Indeed, he has a further two stakes winners down under in A Beautiful Night and River Night, as well as impressive Geelong maiden winner Riverina Storm, who was unplaced but far from disgraced in the Blue Diamond Prelude and the Blue Diamond itself.
