Listed-placed Barbados Blue hammered down at 90,000gns at Tattersalls Online
Richard Venn bought the daughter of Getaway, who is in foal to Golden Horn
The very well-related Listed-placed chaser Barbados Blue topped the Tattersalls August Online Sale on Wednesday when knocked down to Richard Venn for 90,000gns.
A winner of a bumper as well as over hurdles and fences, the eight-year-old daughter of Getaway was also second to the high-class The Glancing Queen in the Lady Godiva Mares' Novices' Chase at Warwick in March.
Offered by Crimbourne Bloodstock in foal to Golden Horn, she was picked up by Highflyer Bloodstock and Nicky Henderson for €40,000 from the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale in 2017 when consigned by Mount Eaton Stud.
Venn said of his purchase: "She's going to go to Ireland and was purchased on behalf of a new client. He was very excited by the mare, by her pedigree and, obviously, by the cover as well. She looks a lovely mare.
"She stood out in the catalogue and we were very pleased to get her. The pedigree is very easy to breed with. There are lots of options, lots of possibilities for her further down the line."
Barbados Blue is the fourth foal out of French hurdle winner Buck's Blue and is therefore a full-sister to three-time rules scorer Barbados Buck's and a half-sister to Summer Plate Handicap Chase winner More Buck's.
Buck's Blue is in turn a half-sister to the brilliant four-time Stayers' Hurdle winner Big Buck's, as well as Listed Grand Steeple-Chase winner Buck's Bank and the Grade 1-placed Buck's Boum, second to Long Run in the Prix Cambaceres and a full-brother to Big Buck's.
A breeding right to Whitsbury Manor Stud's proven Group 1 stallion Showcasing was the other highlight of the online auction when selling to Tinnakill House for 60,000gns.
The son of Oasis Dream needs little introduction as the sire of 120 black-type performers and 30 individual Group winners, those such as top-flight celebrities Advertise, Quiet Reflection and Mohaather.
Responsible for this season's unbeaten Queen Mary Stakes winner Dramatised among three stakes-winning juveniles, the 15-year-old stood this past covering season for a fee of £45,000.
A breeding right to Aclaim was also offered on the platform which realised 17,500gns to Hyde Park Stud, breeder of 1,000 Guineas winner Cachet.
