First foal for Superlative Stakes winner Gustav Klimt 'a quality filly'
Castlehyde Stud resident ranks as one of the speediest sons of Galileo
Gustav Klimt, a multiple Group 1-placed son of Galileo, became a father for the first time on Friday with Minch Bloodstock's Sinndar mare Guenea producing a “quality filly” according to a statement.
The newborn's parents are both bred in the purple.
As well as being by the incomparable Galileo, Gustav Klimt is a half-brother to five other stakes performers including champion Nayarra, St James's Palace Stakes third Mars and Silver Flash Stakes scorer Wonderfully.
Gustav Klimt and his siblings are out of Massarra, a Listed-winning daughter of Danehill and Prix de Diane heroine Rafha and thus a sister to popular sire Kodiac and a half-sister to the prolific Invincible Spirit.
Gustav Klimt maintained family honour by winning the Superlative Stakes at two and finishing second in the St James's Palace Stakes and third in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, Prix Jean Prat and Haydock Sprint Cup at three.
One of the speediest sons of his sire, he is standing his second season under the Coolmore banner at Castlehyde Stud this year at a fee of €6,000.
Guenea is by Sinndar out of Oaks d'Italia winner Guadalupe, also the dam of German Group 1 scorers Guignol and Guiliani.
Her first two foals, Giacomo Garibaldi (by Divine Park) and Gracian (City Zip) are both winners.
