Coolmore newcomer among eyecatching debutants on Wednesday

County Wicklow will undoubtedly be on many people's watchlist in the mile maiden at Dundalk on Wednesday (5.50) - being out of Coolmore, a Group 3-winning full-sister to Gleneagles, Marvellous and Happily.

The three-year-old son of War Front is the first foal out of Coolmore, winner of the Weld Park Stakes at two and third in the Belmont Oaks the following year, and therefore hails from the outstanding family of You'resothrilling.

You'resothrilling, a daughter of Storm Cat and winner of the Cherry Hinton Stakes, is a full-sister to the brilliant Giant's Causeway and has written herself into the history books in her second career.

Now 16, her leading offspring is European champion miler and dual Guineas winner Gleneagles - now plying his trade at Coolmore's base in Ireland - plus fellow top-level scorers Marvellous and Happily.

Coolmore was the third foal out of the star producer and yet another to gain black type - all bar Joan Of Arc have won or been placed in top-level company.

Coolmore's son will face 11 rivals at Dundalk including the twice-raced Zoffany colt Belmont Avenue, a 120,000gns purchase from Tattersalls Book 1 to Joseph O'Brien and a half-brother to the Listed-placed Lope De Vega gelding Duhail.

The Gosden team will also saddle a Zoffany colt in the form of Stowell - owned and bred by Nat Rothschild - at Lingfield in the mile and a half three-year-old maiden just over an hour before (4.35).

Out of the winning Selkirk mare Marywell, Stowell comes from the family of Margarula, the winner of the Irish Oaks in 2002 for Jim Bolger. Marywell - a half-sister to Sydney Cup scorer Grand Marshal - has already produced a black-type winner in Galtres Stakes victress Martlet.

Stowell's six rivals include the fellow Gosden-trained Polling Day, a winning son of Sea The Stars who was a €260,000 purchase as a foal from Stanley Lodge to Yeomanstown Stud at the 2018 Goffs November Foal Sale. He subsequently realised 625,000gns when selling to Anthony Stroud at Tattersalls Book 1 the following year.

The Benny Andersson-owned and Amanda Perrett-trained Mirrie Dancers, a three-parts brother to Atalanta Stakes winner Lavender's Blue, also looks an interesting prospect for connections. A son of dual Derby hero Harzand, he is the fourth foal out of the Group-winning Danehill Dancer mare Beatrice Aurore.

The concluding mile and a half maiden for older horses at Dundalk (8.20) will see the return of Amhran Na Bhfiann, a full-brother to Oaks heroine Was and Al Naamah, a 5,000,000gns purchase by Al Shaqab from Lodge Park Stud at Tattersalls Book 1 in 2013.

Amhran Na Bhfiann did not come cheap himself at 1,300,000gns when selling to MV Magnier from Lodge Park at Book 1 three years ago. He was unplaced on his sole start at two but placed behind subsequent Derby hero Serpentine and Melbourne Cup runner-up Tiger Moth last term.
