Auctav session topper Djelo heading to Venetia Williams after €140,000 sale
The son of Montmartre was bought by French agent Guy Petit
The winning Djelo topped the Auctav November Sale on Wednesday when selling to Guy Petit from Ecurie Augustin de Boisbrunet for €140,000.
The three-year-old son of Montmartre was offered as as lot 1b and will head to Venetia Williams' yard in Herefordshire having struck at Nancy earlier this month
Petit said of his purchase: "The buyer is a loyal customer who has already purchased French horses such as Fontaine Collonges and Frero Bambou.
"Djelo started out as a horse who has everything to do well in England. I bought his brother Ramo recently after his debut who I really liked. I have gambled on this family.”
Petit also went to €55,000 to buy Zopito, who was consigned by Jerome Delaunay after placing on his debut at Saint-Brieuc. The son of No Risk At All will be trained by Stuart Coltherd in Scotland.
Kitkalina, a daughter of Masked Marvel and from the family of Katko and Kotkita, was also picked up by Petit when selling for €32,000.
He added: “I bought Kitkalina for an English customer who races his horses in France. She’s really an interesting purchase because it’s not easy to obtain this beautiful bloodline. She has everything to make a good racing filly and then a good broodmare.”
Arnaud Angéliaume, managing director of Auctav, said at the conclusion of the auction: "The last sale of the year almost felt like our very first sale. We're delighted with the great sale of Djelo.
"We could see that the Auctav concept had really been successful because of its flexibility between monthly sales, wild cards and flash sales. We had a lot of customers connected during this session and a lot of bidding that went into extra time, especially for Djelo’s wild card which reached €140,000.
"The Auctav app, launched this week, had its first test. It worked well in real time and we are really very happy with this innovation which will further facilitate the customer experience. It can only gain momentum in 2022."
The next Auctav Sale will take place online next Friday from 5-6pm local time. Horses selling will be announced within the next few days.
