Mukhadram half-sister to Beckford to be offered at Premier Sale

A Mukhadram half-sister to Beckford, who extended his unbeaten run in the Railway Stakes on Saturday, is set to be offered by Baroda and Colbinstown Studs at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale in Doncaster next month.

"She's a precocious two-year-old type, like her brother," said David Cox of Baroda Stud. "She moves very well and it's a lovely update to have.

"The way Beckford won the other day suggests he should go very close in the Phoenix Stakes, if that's the route he goes down."

The yearling filly was originally purchased by UK-based agent Alex Elliott for her current syndicate, when she went through the ring for 31,000gns at last year's Tattersalls December Foal Sale.

Trained by Gordon Elliott, the Bated Breath colt Beckford is now two from two having followed up on his Curragh maiden win with success in the Railway Stakes.

Bred by Joyce Wallsgrove, Beckford and his sibling are out of Whirly Dancer, a winning half-sister to the mile Group 3 winner Malabar, out of a half-sister to Classic trial winner Ursa Major.

Whirly Dancer, a ten-year-old daughter of Danehill Dancer, has now produced two winners from as many runners, as she also supplied maiden winner Lagenda.

Mukhadram covered his first book of mares in 2015, after notching a deserved top-flight success in the Coral-Eclipse at five - having come second in the Dubai World Cup three months beforehand.

The eight-year-old son of Shamardal stands at the Nunnery Stud in Norfolk at a fee of £7,000.
