The early weeks of January can leave a hole in points-scoring opportunities for the Tote Ten To Follow competition but not for those who managed to include such as Iwilldoit, who landed Saturday’s Classic Chase at Warwick.

Returning to the track for the first time since winning the 2021 Welsh Grand National, the Sam Thomas stable star was picked by only 0.3 per cent of stables at the start of the campaign but rewarded that faith with a runaway success. Paying £11.20 on the Tote, he earned his followers 30.7 points, which was the biggest haul of the week.

The Dan Skelton stable was on the board at Warwick and also landed a big pot with West Balboa in the Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton. Ridden by Bridget Andrews, West Balboa got the better of Red Risk in a head-bobbing finish which paid a Trifecta dividend of £32,788. The winner was left unloved by Ten To Follow stables so 24.8 points went begging.

A more prominent name, although picked by only 0.7 per cent of stables, Pic D’Orhy made it three from three for the season in the Grade 2 Silviniaco Conti Chase and the 23.90 points from that success took his score to 48.95, which moves him into the top ten in the leading horse list.

In Ireland, Impervious took her tally to 43.40 points after picking up 19.80 from Grade 3 success at Punchestown. Owned by JP McManus, the seven-year-old is unbeaten in three races over fences and has been installed as favourite for the Mares’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
