The Unit can exploit lenient mark on handicap debut

Kempton punters will have to wait for the last race of the meeting for the day's best bet, but it should prove worthwhile as The Unit holds outstanding claims in the BetVictor Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle (4.10).

Alan King's 120-rated five-year-old has yet to fulfil his potential, but the handicapper looks to have given him a massive chance and Kevin Dowling's 8lb allowance means he is, in effect, competing off just 112.

Winner of the DBS Spring Sales Bumper at Newbury on good ground in March 2015, a race which often produces a decent horse, The Unit justified 9-4 favouritism when getting up in the final strides to pip McKenzie's Friend by a head, with Nicky Henderson's Cultivator six lengths back in third.
