Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's seven meetings

Saturday selections for Doncaster, Haydock, Leicester, Sandown and more

Saturday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Doncaster

5.55: Silent Hunter

Fierospeed comes here after two AW wins and is not yet fully exposed but the one who could have significant untapped potential is Silent Hunter (nap), who was on the sidelines for a long time after his two promising 2yo runs but collected a Tapeta novice on his reappearance outing in December and now makes his handicap debut over a new trip. Thibaan could be dangerous if the wind surgery proves successful.
Chris Wilson

Haydock

4.35: Finest Sound

This looks a good opportunity for Finest Sound (nap) to gain an overdue second success after going down only narrowly at Nottingham on his reappearance. David O'Meara runs two and his Shelir may provide the sternest opposition to the selection. Amber Island, in excellent form on the AW throughout the winter, is also considered.
Richard O'Brien

Leicester

1.35: Newyorkstateofmind

If getting loose on the lead then Phuket Power could be tough to reel in but Heer We Go Again may have something to say about that. The King Power-owned runner is feared most but there's plenty to like about Newyorkstateofmind (nap), who on his reappearance kept the admirable Duke Of Firenze honest in a higher grade. That was on the AW over 5f, but switching to turf and returning to 6f are no negatives.

Limerick

1.45: New York Angel

Ahandfulofsummers was narrowly beaten in a heavy ground Group 3 last year and should easily land a maiden, but she finished behind New York Angel (nap) in a Naas maiden last month, and with that experience behind her, the latter should be well able to confirm placings. Friendly and the probably progressive Flagged make appeal too.
Justin O'Hanlon

Ripon

5.00: Artistic Rifles

There could well be more to come from La Trinidad this season and he's of interest, while Overwrite comes here on the back of a front-running success at Newmarket and also warrants consideration. There was a lot to like about the way that Artistic Rifles (nap) knuckled down to win the Spring Mile four weeks ago though and a 2lb rise may underestimate that form. His trainer is in blistering form and there's lots to like about his chance.
Paul Smith

Sandown

4.15: Younevercall

The last two winners of this race line up and preference is for Younevercall (nap), who won the last running in 2019. The pick of this season's form suggest this 10yo is as good as ever and he's favoured by the weights. Call Me Lord has a fine record here, including a win in this race in 2018, and he's feared most on the back of a promising run in a 3m Grade 1 at Aintree, when not seeing out the trip. Clondaw Caitlin has something to find but retains potential and is an interesting contender.
Ben Hutton

Wolverhampton

7.15: Labeebb

This can go to Labeebb (nap), who finished first past the post in three of his five starts last term (including over C&D) and ended that campaign with a close third in a Class 2 event at Ascot. This lightly raced 4yo is only 1lb higher on this drop back in grade and he's open to further progress this season. The main danger is He's A Keeper, who had a productive time in similar events here towards the end of last year and is still unexposed at this trip.
