Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's seven meetings

Friday picks for Ascot, Down Royal, Haydock, Kempton, Kilbeggan and more

Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Ascot

4.45: Papacito

This could be competitive but there are queries about whether some will run up to their best, including for May Night and the unexposed Rogue Bear who are returning from breaks. Papacito had come on plenty from his winning debut in terms of know-how when winning at Doncaster last month and he should continue to progress now back at 7f. Northern Express impressed at York two starts ago and is preferred of the remainder, although New Dynasty also has potential and Cooperation is an interesting contender upped to 7f for his new yard.
Emily Weber

Down Royal

3.45: Brostaigh

Both Obtain and Pearl Palinka are coming off disappointing efforts at Navan last week but they are likely to better those runs. However, Brostaigh fared better than expectations on the same day and can have their measure here. Un Bacio Ancora is a danger.

Haydock

1.10: Miramichi

Having been raised just 3lb for beating a subsequent scorer last time, Miramichi may be able to keep up his good progress and complete a five-timer. Second choice is Fairmac, who is 2lb ahead of the assessor. Unexposed Bake looks a huge player if he stays the trip, while Camelot Tales has possibilities if taking well to the headgear and Sandret has slipped to a very handy mark.
Steve Boow

Kempton

7.45: G'Daay

This can go to G'Daay, who has raced mainly over 7f but looked very well suited by the drop to 6f when finishing first at Yarmouth six weeks ago. He was subsequently demoted to second for causing interference there but probably would have won quite comfortably had he kept straight in the closing stages, and a 2lb nudge up the weights ought to be manageable. Second choice is Saatty, who didn't appear to handle the Epsom camber that well on Thursday and deserves credit for keeping on to take third.
Chris Wilson

Kilbeggan

6.37: Nero Rock

Presenting Bonnie loves this track and tries fences for a second time, following a career-best win here over hurdles last month, but preference is for Nero Rock, who went close in a stronger Killarney beginners' event recently. Ennemi Public looks next best.
Alan Hewison

Newcastle

3.20: Brazen Bolt

Shaykhoon looks the pick of the 3yos providing he gets a good pace to aim at, but this can go to an unexposed older horse courtesy of Brazen Bolt. John Quinn's gelding did it well when getting off the mark over C&D a fortnight ago and a 6lb higher mark may not be enough to stop him from following up. It wouldn't be a surprise to see Gleniffer bounce back to form returned to 0-65 company so he may provide the biggest danger.
David Bellingham

Pontefract

7.30: Ventura Express

Trainer Paul Midgley saddles three here and two of them, Son and Sannie and Ventura Express, are particularly interesting. The last-named gets the vote as both his wins have been achieved over C&D and he ran a fine race off this mark over 6f last time. Others to give serious consideration to include King Of Stars and Victory Angel.
