Ascot Placepot tips: Paul Kealy has a pair of bankers on an interesting card

In Ascot's opener (1.20) those who have already made their racecourse debut do not set an exacting standard, so I'd definitely chance at least one newcomer in the Placepot.

Andrew Balding has a much better than usual first-time-out strike-rate with juveniles this season and his , a half-sister to Budapest Bullet Overdose, is the choice.

Likely favourite is worth another chance after flopping in very soft ground at Goodwood last time.

There are only seven in the next (1.55), but Sagadoes set a good standard and a repeat of either of his two seconds is likely to suffice for a top-two finish, with the drop back to 7f looking fine too.

The classified stakes (2.30) is tough, but shaped as though she was running into form at Newbury two starts ago and it was a freak unseat last time.

She goes in with , who is now nicely handicapped if fit after a break.

I'll be disappointed if isn't in the first two in the five-runner handicap (3.05), while in leg five is an equally strong fancy. I would not be surprised if ran a big race though, and he goes in as back-up despite being an outsider.

That just leaves the final leg, and while I like the chances of outsider , I do think the strong-travelling is the right favourite on this drop to 6f.
