Twice a runner-up, Saga has met talented opposition on both starts but should make it third time lucky in this 7f maiden.

On debut, Saga only found Modern Games too good, who now has an official mark of 90. Last time out, it was another Charlie Appleby-trained runner, Coroebus, who beat him, and he has a Royal Lodge entry.

The booking of Frankie Dettori for Saga is a plus and he should be able to gain a deserved first success.

Dreaming (1.20 Ascot)

In the last five seasons, Eve Johnson Houghton has an overall 11 per cent strike-rate with juveniles on turf.

However, for the same period, the trainer has a 24 per cent strike-rate at Ascot (four from 17) for a healthy +21.20 level-stakes profit.

Chipotle was a Listed winner at the track earlier this season, and I am of the opinion Johnson Houghton runs her better juveniles at the track, so newcomer Dreaming is of interest.

He has plenty of winners in his pedigree and hopefully all eight runners will line up, as he appeals as an each-way play.
