Southwell Placepot picks: Robbie Wilders has one banker in the opener to his perm
The standout meeting of the day for Placepot purposes comes at Southwell and in-form mare Velma is banked on in the opener (5.00).
She defied the widest draw to pull clear of the third and finish behind the well-treated Run Teddy Run here 11 days ago and is handicapped to go close off 56.
I’m torn between Bravura and Roaring Legend in the mile novice (5.30). With a better trip round Bravura would probably have landed a similar race at Lingfield last time, while Roaring Legend produced a debut performance filled with promise at Wolverhampton in December.
Improving race-fit filly Glorious Angel might be able to capitalise on a lack of match sharpness from the two returning sprinters in receipt of 8lb in the 6f conditions contest (6.00).
Next up is the 6f handicap (6.30) and Sun Power can go well at a price dropped to this trip. He emerged with some credit despite fading into sixth after running too freely over 7f on his stable debut for David Evans recently.
Murbih ran a screamer from 4lb out of the weights over the minimum distance here a week ago and is also selected reverting to his correct mark.
The two that make most appeal in the mile classified race (7.00) are All Dunn, a hat-trick seeker who can improve for an extra furlong, and Aurophobia, who looks well capable of breaking her duck based on her Lingfield second this month.
Coral Reef is improving with each start this season for Archie Watson and can hit the frame in the 7f handicap (7.30) under Luke Morris.
