Clive Cox introduced a nice colt by Exceed And Excel. He had size and scope and moved well to post. He found it difficult to race on an even keel in the middle of the pack because his opponents were rolling around him, but as his jockey moved him to the rails he quickened up to finish third.

Christopher Wood, a sizeable colt by Fast Company, was only just fit for his debut. Placed behind the leaders, he travelled nicely into contention and was pushed out to victory. There are plenty of winners in his pedigree and he should have more to offer.

Lifeboat had improved for his first run and had control of the race until the final furlong.
