Five outstanding lots on day two of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale
The second day of Tattersalls Book 1 catalogue offers further opportunity for pedigree aficionados and bloodstock enthusiasts to stringently research. We pick out five beautifully bred lots who look likely to produce fireworks in the ring.
Lot 208
B c Siyouni - Cabaret (Galileo)
Consigned by Norelands Stud
By one of Europe's outstanding sires, this colt is a half-brother to this season's 2,000 Guineas hero Magna Grecia. Cabaret, who won the Listed Silver Flash Stakes in a seven-race career, has produced six foals of racing age to date but her Classic-winning son arguably tops the lot.
The Norelands Stud-consigned youngster has Pattern class performers further back in his pedigree as well, including Solario Stakes scorer Drumfire and Gimcrack runner-up Ho Choi.
Lot 288
B c Frankel - Fleche d'Or (Dubai Destination)
Norelands Stud
Attention will undoubtedly be drawn to this colt, given he is a half-brother to 2015 Derby and Arc hero Golden Horn and by the mighty Frankel, who has sired two Classic winners this season.
This regally bred lot's fine pedigree has plenty of depth too as Fleche d'Or's dam Nuryana produced ten winners, including Coronation Stakes heroine Rebecca Sharp.
Lot 307
Ch c Dubawi - Galicuix (Galileo)
The Castlebridge Consignment
This colt's half-brother is none other than 2016 2,000 Guineas hero Galileo Gold. The Hugo Palmer-trained runner won the Vintage Stakes at two before landing the Newmarket Classic and St James's Palace Stakes at three.
The sixth progeny of Galicuix, who has produced three winners from four runners and five foals of racing age, the chestnut looks sure to spark plenty of interest on the second day.
Lot 356
B c Frankel - Izzi Top (Pivotal)
Meon Valley Stud
Meon Valley Stud has enjoyed a productive union with Frankel and this colt could provide connections with more reasons to celebrate following Anapurna's gritty Longchamp success on Saturday.
Out of Izzi Top, the dam of Tattersalls Stakes third Prince Eiji and the Listed-placed Willie John, who sold at Book 1 for 2,600,000gns and 1,900,000 guineas in 2018 and 2017 respectively, this colt could be another to fetch a commanding price on Wednesday.
Lot 357
Ch c Galileo - Jacqueline Quest (Rock Of Gibraltar)
New England Stud
A full-brother to last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf scorer Line Of Duty, this Galileo colt is the sixth foal from Jacqueline Quest, who passed the post first in the 2010 1,000 Guineas but was controversially demoted to second, and who has been well represented on the track by her offspring to date.
Line Of Duty, who has finished third in the Prix Jacques le Marois and Prix du Moulin this season, won three of his five starts as a juvenile and was sold at Tattersalls Book 1 for 400,000gns two years ago. His brother could perhaps better that given his older sibling's exploits on the track.
