Success as a broodmare sire came relatively young in life for Pivotal. By their very nature, the broodmare sire list is often populated by elderly, deceased or retired stallions but Pivotal has consistently been ahead of his contemporaries in that department, being the only active European-based sire to fill a top ten position by prize-money in each of the past four years.

Early indications that Pivotal mares might be worth watching came in 2008 when his eldest daughters had turned ten. That year, Lady Gloria, out of the Pivotal mare Tara Moon, took the Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom and Habaya, out of one of his early stars Golden Apples, won a Grade 3 for Sheikh Hamdan at Hollywood Park.

The breakthrough season, however, arrived in 2012 when Pivotal featured as the damsire of five Pattern winners worldwide, among them July Cup winner Mayson, Solario Stakes scorer Fantastic Moon, who remains the sole juvenile stakes winner sired by Dalakhani, and smart sprinter Fire Lily. And as his better bred daughters have continued to enter the production line, the winners have continued to flow. In 2013, his daughters were responsible for 11 stakes winners. In 2015, the number had grown to 13.
