The Queen gives the king of the stallion ranks a 176th Group/Graded winner
Call To Mind landed the Belmont Gold Cup Invitational Stakes
The Queen and the undisputed king of the stallion ranks, Galileo, combined on Friday as the royal homebred Call To Mind provided the son of Sadler's Wells with his 176th Group/Graded winner when landing the Belmont Gold Cup Invitational Stakes.
"We knew this was the kindest track in America, being such a lovely turf course and so well looked after," said John Warren, the Queen's racing manager. "When looking over the programme, this was the perfect race."
Call To Mind is the second stakes winner produced by Memory, a daughter of Danehill Dancer who landed the Albany Stakes and the Cherry Hinton Stakes while in training with Richard Hannon senior.
Memory is also responsible for the Listed-placed Learn By Heart, a son of Frankel who finished runner-up to Chilean - and one place in front of Derby second Dee Ex Bee - in last year's Ascendant Stakes.
The Danehill Dancer mare also has a two-year-old brother to Recorder and Call To Mind named Space Walk and a delivered a filly by Dubawi last year. All four of Memory's progeny of racing age have been trained by William Haggas.
Memory, a half-sister to the Tyros Stakes winner Remember Alexander, was purchased by Warren for 72,000gns on behalf of Highclere Racing at the 2009 edition of Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.
