Tenebrism's sibling Statuette gets Justify off the mark in Europe
Triple Crown winner Justify's first European winner looked as if she might be a good one as the immaculately-bred Statuette took the honours in impressive fashion in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Navan on Saturday.
The Aidan O'Brien-trained filly follows quickly in the hoofprints of the Ashford Stud's maiden victory in America through Tahoma and was only the third of his progeny to have been seen out so far.
Statuette is a three-parts sister to Tenebrism, the winner of last year's Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes, and was going away at the end of the extended five furlongs race to beat the previously raced Olivia Maralda by three lengths.
The pair are out of the Coronation Stakes and Prix Jacques Le Marois winner Immortal Verse, who was sold for 4,700,000gns to BBA Ireland at the end of her racing career at Tattersalls and has produced several other minor winners.
She is breeding through a partnership between Coolmore associates Orpendale, Chelston, Wynatt and Merriebelle Stables.
Another Justify daughter Unless, the first foal of Cheveley Park scorer Clemmie, was a non-runner but they both have Group entries in the coming weeks.
