Fiona McGlone of Hascombe and Valiant Stud has spoken of the Newmarket operation’s delight in unearthing yet another Group 1 wonder in just a handful of years after Star Catcher’s victory in Sunday’s Prix Vermeille.

Owner-breeder Anthony Oppenheimer has already had many moments in the sun through his Derby and Arc winner Golden Horn and multiple top-level scorer Cracksman, both of whom are now standing at Dalham Hall.

His Sea The Stars filly, like the aforementioned due also trained by John Gosden, added the Longchamp prize to her earlier success in the Irish Oaks as well as the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot.

McGlone, the stud secretary of Hascombe and Valiant, said: "To see what she did in the Irish Oaks and in France on Sunday, it is beyond amazing.

"It’s especially fantastic for Mr Oppenheimer, who has invested his whole life into the breeding side of horseracing. We are all so very happy for him. She’s a superstar filly and we are very excited to have her. We had the boys and now we’ve got the girl!"

Star Catcher’s late dam, Lynnwood Chase has produced three Royal Ascot winners, with Cannock Chase and Pisco Sour also on her roll of honour, and has a handful of further offspring to come.

Fiona McGlone added: "Star Catcher was a beautiful, lovely foal – she has got a lot of her mother’s personality about her – and it’s so exciting as you simply couldn’t know where Star Catcher might end up.

"Sadly her mother is now longer with us, but she has left a fitting legacy and it’s so lovely to have that bloodline continuing.”
