The Bloodstock Sales Review Part 1, detailing yearlings sold at public auction in Europe and those by European-based sires at major auctions in North America and Japan, has been published by Weatherbys.

Among the information contained within its covers is that two stallions were represented by more than 100 yearlings under the hammer in 2019 – Kodiac and Zoffany, who had 115 and 104 lots respectively.

Galileo was once again king of the ring with the highest overall sales in the past year of £21,194,890. However, the young pretender Kingman was a close second, with yearling earnings totalling £19,218,195.

Dubawi once again claimed the most expensive yearling title again, with his colt out of Alina – making him a half-brother to Barney Roy – sold to Godolphin for 3,600,000gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

Only five other stallions were represented by a seven-figure lot in 2019, with Frankel, Galileo, Kingman, Siyouni and Dark Angel following suit.

Shalaa was the best received first-crop yearling sire, with his 61 auction delegates making £5,941,588 combined.

In total there are 385 stallions with progeny selling in 33 different yearling sales around the world included in the Bloodstock Sales Review Part 1, which is available to purchase at Weatherbys' offices at Tattersalls and Goffs.

Part 2 of the publication covers all horses sold throughout the year, including foals and mares, and is published in January.
