Talk of a "global review" by any of the legacy breeding operations is enough to cause jitters in the bloodstock world, particularly in one as wide-reaching as Sheikh Hamdan’s Shadwell.

A dispersal of his entire Australian holdings is not insignificant - it was reported that 38 broodmares and fillies along with 21 weanlings would be heading for the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Breeding Stock Sale and 15 yearlings are to be sold at forthcoming Inglis sales.

It is, though, part of a far bigger worldwide breeding chain. Shadwell has three stallions, including Tamarkuz and Mohaymen, at its farm in Kentucky as well as others dotted around regional stations, another handful at Derrinstown in Ireland and at the British headquarters at Nunnery near Thetford, Sussex Stakes winner Mohaather has just joined the cast.
