Royal Ascot winner Aljazzi heads Autumn Horses in Training Sale

Group 2-winning Shamardal mare Aljazzi looks set to light up this year's four-day Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale, for which 1,636 lots have been catalogued.

The auction will take place from Monday, October 29, to Thursday, November 1.

Last year's renewal saw the Group 2-winning filly Elizabeth Browning top the sale for a record 700,000gns, while Harlem, who won the Group 1 Australian Cup at Flemington in March, was the 520,000gns sale-topper at the 2016 Sale.

Other graduates of the sale, a regular source of top-class performers under both codes, include Group 1-winning sprinter Librisa Breeze and Stayers' Hurdle winner Penhill.

The Marco Botti-trained Aljazzi has four Group and Listed wins to her name including her victory in the Group 2 Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot this year, when she claimed the scalp of subsequent Group 1 winner Urban Fox.

She has significant breeding appeal as a daughter of Shamardal and the Listed-winning Danehill Dancer mare Nouriya, a relation of St James's Palace Stakes hero Zafeen.

The Castlebridge Consignment has the largest draft comprising 115 lots, among them the three-year-old colts Arbalet, Argentello, Corrosive and Sevenna Star, while Shadwell is also strongly represented with 67 lots.

The two largest trainers' consignments are the 69 coming from Richard Hannon's East Everleigh Stables and the 45 from Aidan O'Brien's Ballydoyle Stables - including the useful Scat Daddy sons Dali and Murillo, both entires so possessing stallion potential.

Sir Michael Stoute's Freemason Stables has 20 catalogued, Mark Johnston's Kingsley House has 34 and Richard Fahey's Musley Bank has a team of 41.

Irish trainers represented include Charles O'Brien, Joseph O'Brien, John Oxx, Jim Bolger, John Murphy, Michael O'Callaghan, Fozzy Stack and Dermot Weld, while the catalogue also features a number of winners from France and Germany.
