Overbury Stud stallion Jack Hobbs has first foal on the ground
New arrival is a filly out of a useful hurdler
The first foal by outstanding middle-distance performer Jack Hobbs has arrived.
The newborn is a filly out of Cinderella Rose, a daughter of Midnight Legend who won four races in the National Hunt sphere when trained by Kim Bailey.
The proud breeders are Nicholas and Cherry Jones of Coln Valley Stud.
Jack Hobbs was retired to Overbury Stud in Gloucestershire last year and proved a hit with breeders, covering 168 mares in his debut book.
His popularity is unsurprising as he rates as one of the best horses to join the jumps stallion ranks in Britain immediately after racing, having finished second to Golden Horn in the Derby and three weeks later storming to a five-length victory in the Irish version of the Classic.
At the end of an injury disrupted four-year-old season the son of Halling took third behind Almanzor in a competitive Champion Stakes and on his five-year-old bow he was a decisive winner of the Dubai Sheema Classic.
Jack Hobbs was bred by Willie Carson's Minster Stud out of the winning Swain mare Swain's Gold.
His fee in his second season at Overbury Stud this year is £4,000.
