Osarus buyers on lookout for next Laurina or Sceau Royal as NH sale looms

Friday's sale takes place at Compiegne, with yearlings and two-year-olds to fore

A total of 84 lots have been catalogued for the Osarus 100% National Hunt sale on Friday at Compiègne racecourse.

That is comprised of 11 foals, 37 yearlings, 30 two-year-olds, four mares and two recent performers in training.

The largest consignments come from Haras de Ceres, who have nine lots, Haras de Cercy (seven), Eric Becq (six), Haras du Taillis (four), Vincent Le Roy (four) and Pascal Beyer (four).

In all, 49 sires will be represented, including Saints Des Saints, Kapgarde, Cokoriko, Montmartre, Masked Marvel, Castle Du Berlais, Choeur Du Nord, Spanish Moon, Bathyrhon, Masterstroke, Kap Rock, Buck's Boum, Voiladenuo, Planteur, Manatee, Nom De D'La and Nicaron.

Seven lots have been added to the sale, namely a foal by Kap Rock (lot 4A), yearlings by Choeur Du Nord (18A), Polarix (40A) and Masked Marvel (42A), two-year-olds by Bathyrhon (71A) and Martinborough (72A), and a three-year-old horse-in-training, Innocente Bambino (47A), who was placed on October 14 at Lyon on his second start over hurdles.

Among the foals on offer are:

Lot 5, a filly by Beaumec de Houelle out of a full-sister to Listed winner and Group-placed Crios

Lot 9, a colt by Rail Link out of a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Very Wood

Lot 10, a colt by Chanducoq out of a half-sister to Mon Môme

Lot 12, a colt by Beaumec de Houelle out of a Poliglote mare, from the family of Fleur D’Ainay and Crystal D’Ainay

The yearling section includes:

Lot 15, a gelding by Nicaron out of a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Sky’s The Limit

Lot 26, a filly by Désinvolte out of a half-sister to Un de Sceaux

Lot 28, a filly by Kamsin out of a half-sister to Galway Plate winner Borice

Lot 30, a colt by Planteur, half-brother to four black-type performers including Hurkhan (ten wins over jumps including the Prix Univers II at Auteuil)

Lot 34, a gelding by Manatee, half-brother to Listed Prix Wild Monarch winner Gelboe de Chanay and Eragon de Chanay (third in the Grade 2 Prestbury Juvenile Hurdle)

Lot 39, a filly by Cokoriko, full-sister to Gué Du Loup (winner of three races over jumps, including the Prix Colonel Robert Labouche at Fontainebleau on Tuesday)

Lot 41, a colt by Choeur Du Nord out of a half-sister to Square Beaujon (third in Group 1 Prix Maurice Gillois)

Horses in training (three-year-olds) include:

Lot 47, a filly by Waldpark who was placed second on her hurdles debut at Clairefontaine

Lot 47A, a gelding by Cokoriko who was placed third on his second start over hurdles on October 14

The mares section includes progeny by Poliglote and Turgeon both in foal to City Light, a mare by Martaline in foal to For Fun and an Aqps three-year-old mare by Bathyrhon.

Among the two-year-olds on offer are:

Lot 54, a filly by Willywell out of the Listed placed mare Halbina De Juilley, half-sister to four winners overs jumps

Lot 55, a gelding by Montmartre, family of Halley and Solar Impulse

Lot 56, an Aqps gelding by Spanish Moon, half-brother to AQ-Grade 1 winner Urbaine

Lot 58, a filly by Manatee out of a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Cyrlight, and half-brother to Grade 3 Festival Betting Handicap Chase winner Ballyhill

Lot 61, a filly by Choeur Du Nord out of a half-sister by Poliglote to Epicea (winner of Listed Prix Univers II; fourth in Group 1 Prix Ferdinand Dufaure)

Lot 64, a filly by Voiladenuo, full-sister to three-year-old Irish Vocation (winner on debut)

Lot 66, a filly by Elm Park out of a half-sister to Un De Sceaux

Lot 68, a filly by Spanish Moon, half-sister to three-time winner Royal Pretender

Lot 76, a colt by Kapgarde, half-brother to three winners overs jumps

Lot 77, a colt by Saint Des Saints, out of a half-sister to Group 3 Prix Journaliste winner Equemauville (Saint Des Saints)

Lot 78, a filly by Spider Flight out of a half-sister to Saint D’Oroux, family of Bénéfique, Bébé Star, Draconien

Recent winners sold at the Osarus 100% National Hunt sale include Royal Pretender, a winner on Monday at Plumpton for Alan King. His two-year-old half-sister by Spanish Moon is lot 68 of the sale.

There has also been Mighty Potter, who made a winning debut over hurdles at Down Royal on October 30; Gelino Bello, who made an impressive winning debut over hurdles at Aintree on October 24; Samba Dancer, who made it three in a row by at Cheltenham on October 23; and Gentleman Valley, who made a winning debut over hurdles at Kempton on October 19.

Previous National Hunt graduates of the Osarus sales ring include top-level winners Laurina, Sceau Royal, Gemix, Punch Nantais, Master Dino, Capivari and Royal Boy.
