Ocovango's first jumps runner Langer Dan continues to impress
Three-year-old made it two from from in a Wetherby Listed hurdle
Langer Dan, the first runner in Britain and Ireland for Ocovango, continued to impress when taking his record to two from two in a Listed juvenile hurdle at Wetherby on Friday.
Ridden by Harry Skelton, the three-year-old gelding stayed on well to fend off the challenge of Battle Of Marengo filly Maria Magdalena and Jukebox Jury gelding Nordano.
The Dan Skelton-trained Langer Dan looks an exciting prospect for Ocovango, a Group 2-winning son of Monsun who was fifth in the Derby won by Ruler Of The World.
Langer Dan is bred by Hugh O'Connor - also the breeder of recent Cheltenham bumper winner Time Flies By - and is the first foal out of the unraced Milan mare What A Fashion, a half-sister to three Graded performers, namely Klepht, Welsh Shadow and Whatzdjazz.
Offered by the Premier Consignment, Langer Dan sold for €12,000 to Ballinaroon Stud at the 2016 Tattersalls Ireland November Sale, and races in the colours of owner Colm Donlon.
Trained by Andre Fabre, Ocovango landed the Group 2 Prix Greffulhe at Saint-Cloud before his Epsom fifth and was a close third to Flintshire in the Grand Prix de Paris as well as a three-year-old.
Ocovango - who has also supplied a first-crop Flat winner with La Shaba successful in a mile maiden at Kincsem Park in Hungary - stood his first five seasons at the Beeches Stud at a €3,500 fee.
