Nocturnal Fox and Gladiatorus fill the shoes of Gatewood at Windmill View Stud

Windmill View Stud in Galway has added two new recruits to its stallion roster, with Gladiatorus and Nocturnal Fox having been acquired to replace Gatewood, who died earlier this year.

The deal was brokered by Micheál Orlandi of Compas Equine on behalf of the stud's John Lynch, and the agent said: "Compas Equine is delighted to have brokered the purchase of two new stallions for John Lynch of Windmill View Stud.

"Disappointingly, John lost Gatewood late in the summer and was keen to replace him. Gatewood sired outstanding stock and is a great loss. Thanks to Godolphin an opportunity arose to acquire Nocturnal Fox and Gladiatorus.

"Nocturnal Fox, a son of Farhh out of a Rahy half-sister to St Leger winner Nedawi, won two of his seven starts for Godolphin and Andre Fabre, including the Group 2 Prix Hocquart at three.

"Nocturnal Fox has all the attributes one would look for in a stallion," said Orlandi. "Hes good looking, a great walker and a Group 2 winner for Andre Fabre where he beat Group 1 winner Aspetar and Melbourne Cup-placed Master Of Reality.

"He's from a beautiful family which traces back to Dahlia. His sire, Farhh, looks to be a bit special having already sired the likes of King of Change and Dee Ex Bee."

Two-time Group 1 winner Gladiatorus has already produced a Pattern-class performer from his time at stud in Italy. The son of Silic last stood at David Bond's Withyslade Farm in Salisbury in Wiltshire.

Orlandi added: "Gladiatorus, a top-class racehorse and multiple Group 1 winner, has already sired a Group performer in the shape of Presley. These two new recruits to the National Hunt market should engage plenty of breeders."
