Second-season sire Harbour Watch retired from covering duty
The unbeaten son of Acclamation has supplied 39 winners
Harbour Watch, the unbeaten Group 2-winning son of Acclamation who has stood the past five breeding seasons at Tweenhills Stud, has been retired from covering duties on veterinary advice.
"Sadly, we have to announce the retirement of Harbour Watch from stud duties on veterinary advice," said Qatar Bloodstock manager David Redvers. "He has arthritic joint issues relating to an accident that incurred during his racing career.
"His many winners include Tis Marvellous and Santry, who was one of this season's leading two-year-olds prior to sadly being fatally injured."
Harbour Watch raced three times for Richard Hannon snr, landing a Salisbury maiden, a Newmarket conditions event and the Group 2 Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood in which he achieved a peak Racing Post Rating of 117.
Injury curtailed his racing career and he was duly retired to Tweenhills in 2013.
From two crops of runners he has sired 39 successful sons and daughters at a winners-to-runners ratio of 37 per cent. His leading performers include Prix Robert Papin winner Tis Marvellous and the ill fated but hugely talented Santry, who finished second in this year's Norfolk Stakes. He is also the sire of South African Listed winner Trojan Harbour.
He covered 175 mares over the three most recent breeding seasons, so there remains plenty of opportunity for his name to be among the headlines once again.
