Casamento relocates from Dalham Hall to Ljungstorps Stud

Second-season sire Casamento - winner of the 2010 Racing Post Trophy - has relocated from Dalham Hall Stud to Ljungstorps Stud in Sweden, where he will stand the 2018 breeding season. A fee will be announced at a later date.

"Ljungstorps Stud and Darley have had great success in the past with their collaborations," said Mathias Schildt of Ljungstorps Stud.

"Both Pennekamp and Layman became leading stallions in Scandinavia, and we are convinced that Casamento will succeed as well.

"He is a stallion with both his own achievements and offspring that delivered at a high European level, which makes him incredibly interesting for all breeders in Scandinavia."

A top-class juvenile when trained by Mick Halford, Casamento won three of his four starts at two, including the Beresford Stakes and Racing Post Trophy, both run over a mile.

The son of Shamardal trained on at three, when switched to the yard of Mahmood Al Zarooni, and won the Group 3 Prix du Prince d'Orange over 1m2f at Longchamp.

He stood his first three seasons at Kildangan Stud at a fee of €5,000, and the past two at Dalham Hall at a similar fee of £5,000.

Bred by the Cantillon and Canning families, Casamento is a half-sister to Grand Slam mare Wana Doo, dam of another top-class miler in Toronado, out of Listed winner and Group 3-placed Wedding Gift.

Casamento's first crop included 15 individual two-year-old winners and he has had 41 winners in Europe so far this year, including Italian Listed winners Paiardina and Stamp Collecting.
