Time Test the latest addition to National Stud ranks

The burgeoning roster of the National Stud in Newmarket has gained another new recruit following the announcement on Thursday that multiple Group scorer Time Test is to retire to its ranks for the 2018 breeding season.

The son of Dubawi will be offered for his opening season at a fee of £8,500 with breeding rights also available.

Time Test began his career with Roger Charlton, for whom he won six races including the Group 3 Tercentenary Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group 2 Joel Stakes at three. As a four-year-old he won the Brigadier Gerard Stakes and the Group 2 York Stakes, and also gained a Group 1 podium in the Eclipse Stakes. He also managed two seconds at the elite level this year, following his transfer to Chad Brown, in the Manhattan Stakes and Fourstardave Handicap.

The Juddmonte homebred is out of the late Sir Henry Cecil's Group 1-winning mare Passage Of Time, and hails from the family of top performers Twice Over and Timepiece.

"He offers breeders a unique opportunity to breed to a son of Dubawi that had precocity, speed and soundness. From a great, proven Juddmonte family, he has all the right attributes to make a top-class stallion."

Charlton added: "Time Test blew away the opposition at Royal Ascot as a three-year-old when he looked like a Group 1 horse. Speed and acceleration were his main assets and I'm convinced he would have won Group 1 races had ground conditions been in his favour."
